Since he has sold his historic Gilmanton, NH, home, we have been commissioned to sell at unreserved public auction his personal collection of antiques. The focus of the collection is on early Pilgrim and Country Q.A., along with the property from a Newbury, VT, collection, making this the perfect auction event during peak foliage in Northern New England. A quick overview: two American Pilgrim Century chests of drawers, one in walnut with panels and other in old paint; early ball-foot blanket chest in old paint; several early New England stretcher-base tavern tables in maple and pine; New England maple 2-part fan carved highboy; William and Mary stretcher-base tables; a good selection of 18th-c. bannisterback New England chairs, both arm and side chairs, some in paint; many good early floor cupboards, many in paint, including setback, canted, chimney, and others; early hutch table in red; early farm and saw buck tables; two sets of 6 Windsor chairs including birdcage; 6 St. Johnsbury, VT, country chairs; early pie safes; early dry sinks and bucket bench; Pilgrim-style great chairs, likely Wallace Nutting, as is a day bed; antique country sofa; many early blanket boxes, some 18th c. examples in old paint; tiger maple and other candlestands in old paint; 2 nice antique maple canopy beds; pencil-post tester bed, other antique beds; several early joint stools; and more.
