We have been selected to sell at public auction the nautical collection of the late Capt. Richard Spear of Rockland, Maine, along with other items of interest from his estate. This will be a single estate auction with no additions. Along with the over 30 scrimshaw whale’s teeth other items include 2 narwhal tusks, lots of boxed marine instruments, a maritime book collection, diving hard helmets, an 1807 edition of Nathaniel Bowditch Practical Navigator with fold-out map, Lighthouse Service Chelsea clock, early harpoons, Naval Officer’s sword, whalebone walking stick, scrimshaw corset busts, whalebone pulleys, fancy pie crimpers and so much more.
