Frank Finney’s “Gooney Bird.” This splendid, folky bird has great form and a wonderful dry painted surface showing a tawny brown color with black spots. He sits upon a heart-shaped stand.

“Gooney Bird” is signed by Frank Finney on the bottom side of the stand. I believe this piece to be an early Finney, as his newer signature is a carved “F.” This bird measures 11” tall (including stand) and 10¼" long. He is indeed a handsome specimen!
