Toshimitsu created this 18" diameter inlaid bronze charger that depicted in relief a lohan (holy man) above Mount Fuji watching cranes. For many centuries, the Middle East and China dominated the field of inlaid bronzes, but by the late 19th century the integration of metallurgy, art, and craftsmanship was most remarkable in Japan.
