Two phone bidders battled for this 18th-century Japanese two-panel screen
July 28th, 2005
Two phone bidders battled for this 18th-century Japanese two-panel screen (est. $2500/3500) that brought $9240. The floral composition is elegantly simple but strong, and the background was gilded with various surface effects. The panels had separated and needed to be rehinged. Eldred's photo. Robert C.
