Oriental paintings are generally mounted on scrolls or screens rather than in hanging wall frames of the West. This large (57" x 31" image size) late 18th-century Nagasaki scroll by Shiba Kokan was purchased by a major broker of Asian art for $5940. It was in wonderful condition with mellow but rich color.
