Between 1929 and 1936, Paul Jacoulet escaped harsh winters by traveling to the South Pacific. His woodblocks of life there constitute a subcategory of Paul Jacoulet prints. Richard Miles said he bought some of these at the auction, and I noticed that another was purchased by a collector from Hawaii. This 1949 work, entitled
Dans la Nature. Angur, brought $1980, just under estimate. Eldred's photo.Robert C. Eldred Company's Oriental Art Auction, East Dennis, Massachusetts, August 19-24, 1996.
